Producer and Executive Producer Stephen Van Mil has been in the television and film industry for the past 25 years, including on-air presenting, directing and writing. Through his company Impian Films, he has developed the $USD30million feature film The Drowner, written by John Collee (Master and Commander, Happy Feet) and directed by the legendary Fred Schepisi (Plenty, Roxanne, Six Degrees of Separation). The film is now financing.
Stephen has also made multi-award winning documentaries including White Lions: King of Kings for Discovery/Animal Planet, and The Last Trimate, narrated by Mel Gibson. His short film Tango Underpants has won numerous awards at film festivals throughout the world.
Stephen has raised significant amounts of private investment funds for his various projects, as well as funding from Screen Australia, ScreenWest and others. As a partner in the recently formed Bangalow Pictures, Stephen is developing four feature film projects with Charlie de Salis – Paruku, written by Jesse Blackadder Pemuluwy, written by Reg Cribb (Last Cab to Darwin), a partnership with Bunya Productions and adaptations of two Reg Cribb plays – The Damned and The Haunting of Daniel Gartrell.
